Privacy Policy

Effective date:

This Privacy Policy explains how Roof Pitch Calculator & Gauge (the “App”), Android package com.roofpitch.fieldtool, handles information when you use its measurement tools, saved records, photo and PDF features, advertisements, and Google Play purchases.

The App is designed to perform roof measurements and calculations locally. Your roof measurements and project files are not automatically uploaded to a developer-operated server. However, the App uses Google services for advertising, privacy choices, and purchases, and these services may process certain device, usage, consent, and transaction information.

1. Information We Handle

The App may process the following categories of information:

  • Measurement information: roof pitch, angle, slope, calibration values, saved measurement records, timestamps, and related notes or labels entered by you.
  • Project calculations: roof areas, roof sections, materials estimates, selected preferences, and rafter calculations.
  • Photos and reports: images you capture or import, measurement/photo evidence you choose to retain, and PDF reports you generate or share.
  • Device settings: language, units, theme, Auto Hold, Audio Gauge, Sunlight, hardware-button controls, and other operating preferences.
  • Advertising and consent information: data handled by Google Mobile Ads and Google User Messaging Platform, as explained below.
  • Purchase information: product ownership, purchase status, and related transaction identifiers handled through Google Play Billing.

You do not need to create an account with the App developer to use the measurement features. A Google Play account may be required to buy or restore the optional Remove Ads purchase.

2. Motion Sensors and Measurements

The App uses supported Android motion sensors, such as gravity and accelerometer sensors, to estimate roof pitch, angle, slope, orientation, and measurement stability. Sensor readings and calibration calculations are processed on the device.

The App does not intentionally send raw sensor readings, your saved roof dimensions, or project calculations to Google Mobile Ads, Google Play, or a developer-operated server for advertising purposes.

3. Camera, Imported Photos, and Image Evidence

Camera Estimate is optional and uses the camera to help estimate a roof angle from a visible roof edge. Android camera permission is requested when camera functionality requires it. The App may temporarily hold a frozen camera frame in memory while you adjust the measurement line.

You can also capture or import photos for saved measurements or photo documentation. Images that you explicitly save may remain in the App's local storage, and selected images may be included in reports you create. Temporary camera previews can be discarded when no longer needed.

The App does not automatically upload camera frames or saved project photos to the developer or to advertising providers. When you choose to share an image or report, the destination you select may receive that file.

4. Saved Records, Calculators, and Settings

The App uses local Android application storage to retain data such as:

  • saved roof measurements and associated dates, labels, or photos;
  • roof-area projects and sections, materials estimates, and related preferences;
  • sensor calibration and relative-zero settings;
  • language, units, theme, Audio Gauge, Auto Hold, and other user settings;
  • local advertising frequency and paywall-display counters;
  • locally cached purchase-entitlement status for offline continuity.

Rafter results are calculated on the device and are not automatically saved as permanent records. The App does not operate a developer-hosted account or cloud-sync service for these project records.

5. PDF Reports and Sharing

The App can generate PDF reports locally using the measurements, project details, and photos you select. A report may include information such as measurement values, dates, labels, calculations, and images.

Reports may be placed temporarily in the App's cache or other applicable local storage. Sharing is initiated by you through Android's sharing interface or another action you choose. Files sent to another app, person, or service are then subject to that recipient's own privacy and retention practices. The App does not automatically send reports to us.

6. Advertising and Google AdMob

The free version of the App can display interstitial advertisements provided by Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect or share information with Google and its advertising partners for ad delivery, measurement, analytics, security, and fraud prevention, including:

  • IP address, which may indicate approximate location;
  • app interactions, such as launches, taps, or ad views;
  • SDK and app diagnostic or performance information;
  • Android advertising ID, app set ID, and other applicable device or account identifiers.

Depending on applicable law, consent choices, and Google ad-serving settings, ads may be personalized, non-personalized, or limited. The advertising identifiers available to the SDK can also depend on your Android privacy settings and applicable restrictions. The App does not request precise device-location permission for advertising. Google may nevertheless infer approximate location from an IP address.

This advertising-related collection is distinct from locally stored roof measurements, saved photos, and project reports. We do not sell your project files or provide them to advertisers to target advertisements.

Learn more about how Google uses information from apps and sites that use its services in Google's partner technologies information and Google's Privacy Policy.

Where required, the App uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request or manage advertising privacy choices. These choices may be stored on the device and processed by Google and relevant advertising providers so that ads can be served according to applicable requirements.

Where a Privacy Options control appears in the App's Settings, you can use it to open Google's privacy-options form and review or change available advertising choices. Whether this control is required depends on Google's UMP status for your region and consent settings. You may also reset or delete the Android advertising identifier in your device's privacy settings. The availability and effect of these options depend on your region, device, and applicable law.

8. Google Play Billing and Remove Ads

The App offers an optional Remove Ads one-time purchase through Google Play. It is not a subscription. Google Play processes payment information and manages purchase transactions under Google's own terms and privacy practices. The App developer does not receive your full payment-card details through this purchase flow.

To enable and restore the purchase, the App may obtain product details, purchase state, purchase tokens or other transaction identifiers, and acknowledgement status from Google Play Billing. The App may cache a confirmed ad-free entitlement locally and recheck ownership with Google Play when a connection is available.

Once a valid Remove Ads entitlement is recognized, the App stops showing its advertisements. This does not prevent Google Play from processing information necessary for billing, purchase verification, or restoration.

9. Internet Access and Third Parties

Basic measurement and calculation features are designed to work without an internet connection. Internet access is used by third-party Google services for ads, consent management, and Google Play Billing. The App does not require a developer-operated server to store roof measurements.

The primary third-party services used for these functions are Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads, Google UMP, and Google Play Billing. Their handling of data is subject to Google's applicable policies and terms. The App does not include a separate developer-operated behavioral analytics service; Google Mobile Ads may nevertheless process interaction and diagnostic data as described above.

10. App Permissions

Depending on the installed release and Android version, the App may use:

  • android.permission.CAMERA for optional camera-based estimation and photo features;
  • android.permission.INTERNET for Google advertising, consent, and purchase services;
  • com.android.vending.BILLING for Google Play purchases;
  • com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID for access to the Android advertising identifier, subject to device settings and applicable restrictions;
  • android.permission.ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID, android.permission.ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION, and android.permission.ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS for applicable Android advertising services when supported;
  • android.permission.WAKE_LOCK and android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE, which may be included by Android or integrated service components for device-operation or service functionality.

The App's measurement tools do not require permission to access precise location, contacts, microphone, or the device's general media library. Photo selection and Android sharing can use system-provided interfaces. Actual permissions may vary with app version and Android platform rules.

11. Sunlight Mode and Hardware Controls

Sunlight mode may temporarily increase the brightness of the App's window; it does not change the device's global brightness setting. Optional volume-button shortcuts control App functions such as Hold, Resume, and Sunlight. These functions do not require collecting or transmitting your volume-button activity to a developer server.

12. Data Security

Saved project records and settings are held in Android application storage, using the device's application-isolation protections. Google Mobile Ads states that data transmitted by its SDK is encrypted in transit. No internet service or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure.

If you export or share reports and images, their protection depends on the apps, devices, or services you choose to receive them.

13. Retention and Deletion

Locally saved measurements, projects, photos, preferences, and counters generally remain on your device until you delete the relevant records, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App. Some generated files may remain in temporary storage until the App or Android removes them. Android backup or copies you have shared elsewhere may be retained separately under the relevant service or device settings.

You can remove individual saved records using the App's available delete controls. To remove locally stored App data more broadly, you can clear the App's storage in Android settings or uninstall the App. Be aware that doing so can erase saved measurements, projects, photos, preferences, and calibration data from the device.

The developer does not operate a central account database containing your locally saved roof measurements or project photos. Google independently manages advertising, consent, and purchase records according to its own retention and deletion policies. Uninstalling the App does not itself cancel or erase Google Play purchase history or files you exported.

To ask a privacy question or request help locating any developer-held information, contact the address below. For data held by Google or by a recipient of a shared report, use that provider's applicable controls.

14. Children's Privacy

Roof Pitch Calculator & Gauge is a practical field measurement tool intended for a general adult audience, not an application directed at children. We do not intentionally request children's personal information through a developer-operated account or form. Advertising and payment providers have their own applicable data-handling policies.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when App functions, service providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version of this document. Material changes will be reflected in the published policy and in Google Play disclosures as applicable.
